Introducing Megan Coppock, Co=creator and Friend

Hi all, I'm Megan. I am a native Oregonian, a midwife, a grief tender, a mother, a partner, and a holder of sacred space. I am also a friend and huge fan of Sweethome, the way she walks through the world, and her deeply meaningful work. I am beyond excited to be collaborating with Sweethome and YARA on this Kenyan project. I was first introduced to the people, culture, animals, landscape, and energy of Kenya in 2015 on an unexpected, life-affirming trip with my then 70 year-old mother. In the 11 years since, I have been back once with my teenaged kids, my mother has gone back annually and has married a Kenyan man whom she met on that 2015 trip and we all have created some very meaningful relationships with the Kenyan people and their way of life. I have been dreaming of a way to share the rich experience of Kenyan culture and its complex relationship with Westernization in a functional, expansive, and accessible way with my community. As Sweethome and I have been deepening our friendship, it has become apparent that we share this vision and that together, we can bring it to life. I will be sharing stories, pictures, and information on Kenya in Sweethome's newsletter over the coming months.

I have been holding Sacred Sound Ceremonies both individually and with my partner, Ebon, for the last six years. This healing modality came out of my studies of the Bacsi tradition of Shamanism, combined with my many years of holding veil space as a midwife, and my life long relationship with my voice. I use invocation, presence, prayer, and trust to open myself as a channel and allow for energy and vibration to move through my voice and the instruments at hand. These  journeys sometimes offer messages, sometimes break up stuck energy, sometimes offer a portal to journey through, sometimes offer a deep restful reset, sometimes are highly uncomfortable, and often participants report a mixture of all of the above. No two ceremonies are the same and the energy, the history, the reality of the individuals in the ceremony seem to largely affect what comes through. I would be honored to drop in and explore this seemingly, inter-dimensional space with you in the Hut.
