March 20th, 2025 - Volunteer Time

With spring sprouting up, we are excited to be outside more and get the garden growing and work on projects such as building a new den for the bunnies, prepping land for a food forest, planting seeds and pulling weeds.

We have projects such as gardening, mosaic tiling, pruning, cleaning up the goatyard, composting, seed saving, etc. It would be great to have you here.

Would you like to volunteer a couple hours a week at the sanctuary? We have openings on Sundays from 11-1 presently. We would like to add another day and time for volunteers (just not sure when).

March 14, 2025 - Life and Death and Life Again

Hello Friends,

I am up in Quilcene, Washington at the moment looking over Dabob bay with the Olympic Mountains rising up behind us. This land was being tended to by my children’s papa who unexpectedly died 4 months ago. As death goes, he is now gone but his dreams and plans lay spread out on this land, in the ethers, in our hearts. Now, we are here picking up the pieces and attempting to nurture his dreams into reality in honor of him. Our future changed when he passed and we are processing the uncertainty of this new path.

All this has made it difficult for me to keep up with the offerings connected to my work and passion. This has given me pause, reflecting upon this reimagining of the future.

The vagueness of grief is a challenge to navigate. I have spent many days with a sorrow that dismantles any motivation I may have each morning.

I just spent three weeks in Mexico. A group of women joined me on retreat and we had an inspiring, healing, life affirming time. Weaving this back into the life I live here was not as straight forward as I hoped. The heavy needs it’s time to be heavy. It takes time, it takes community, it takes acceptance.

I am so grateful to still have the opportunity to write you a note sending my love, sharing my thoughts, and hoping to connect with you as time and faith heals us all.

December 31st, 2024 - Mexico Retreat

Our Mexico retreat is around the corner. In the midst of winter, a week of warm sunshine, blue waters, and sunsets on the beach will be a blessing. I love this deep dive into learning, soaking up this glorious place, and supporting the Yelapa Animal Project. I hope you can join us. Happy to answer any questions you have.

Yelapa is located south of Puerto Vallarta and is only accessible by water taxi. This makes it a very unique experience. We stay in open air palapas and share amazing meals prepared with love. We support the local community by staying at Los Naranjos. and visiting the Yelapa Animal Project. This retreat is a very special opportunity for you.

Every shared palapa at Los Naranjos Eco-Retreat has its own distinctive character. Paths weave through the gardens to peaceful nooks and sweet spots inviting respite. The village fills the night air with song, an extremely festive place. With the sunrise, comes the sounds of the jungle waking. Oh yes and the roosters….oh, and the dogs too. We immerse ourselves in another way of life. What a gift and opportunity!

We practice outside on a circular wooden platform, called The Moloka, amongst tall palms and vines, watching flocks of parrots fly overhead in the day and brilliant stars glimmer at night.

This can be your home for a week where you are cared for with amazing homemade food, thoughtful practices, and comfortable quarters nurturing community.

I would be honored to share this with you.

The full cost is $1600. $300 deposit saves your spot.

Partial scholarships available for those in need. Send a request to sweethome@teacupyoga

December 9th, 2024 - The Retreat of the Butterfly

I wanted to share a piece of writing from the past about The Yelapa Animal Project here. We will visit them during the retreat.

While perusing the blog I found this short piece, which I wrote when I was in Mexico a few years ago. It’s not about my trip to Mexico, but more about the inner journeys that connect us all. Hope you enjoy The Retreat of The Butterfly

I can close my eyes and feel the beach, the warm sun. I see familiar faces, and hear the waves wash up on the shore. It gives me comfort and I feel my body relax. I hope you are inspired to come. We have partial scholarships available. Just send a request to sweethome@teacupyoga
